Bolton Brass Ltd, located near Birmingham has been manufacturing brass products since the earliest days of the company’s existence in the 1890’s.

History :

Bolton Brass, formally known as McKechnie Brothers, started life in St Helens in 1871, moving to Widnes, and then to Birmingham in 1894, finally settling in a purpose built factory in Aldridge, just north of Birmingham, in 1953. The company was a pioneer in the extrusion of brass and copper alloys ; it’s success enabling it to purchase its two major UK competitors. The skills and technology acquired at this time, along with significant investment in modern extrusion technology has enabled Bolton Brass to remain a leader in this very specialised filed.

One of two large horizontal casting plants capable of casting a wide range of brass alloys in various billet diameters.
Indirect Extrusion Press: Cast billets are preheated prior to extrusion. We can extrude into either coil or straight length rod dependant on size and specific customer requirements. The press is capable of producing both simple and complex shapes.
A Schumag drawing line used for the processing of coils , with a hydraulic impact shear and in line chamferer. Size range 13 mm round- 30 mm round bars.
An automated drawbench line with straightening, sawing, chamfering and an automatic bundling facility which enables processed material to be packed, weighed and transferred to the warehouse ready for shipment to the customer.
An automatic bundling machine that sorts and packs the processed material ready for shipment to the customer.
